A Empresa Mercantil de Pesca começou a trabalhar inicialmente na Rua Manuel Tomé Viegas Vaz, num edifício em frente da fábrica Augusto bruno, onde esteve depois a firma Soares & Viegas Lda. Depois passou para a Avenida 5 de Outubro onde o Pedro José teve a fábrica. E finalmente, fixou-se no Largo da Feira. Era dos sócios Francisco Ribeiro Modesto, António Fernandes e Mestre Farpela.
As suas instalações foram depois ocupadas pela Gelmar, empresa também já extinta.
